Further training to become an industrial foreman

Anyone who wants to take the next step in their career after completing their training in the electrical, metal or plastics industry or after several years of relevant professional experience can train as an industrial foreman on a full-time or part-time basis. In the meantime, there are also numerous distance learning courses that provide the necessary know-how to the prospective industrial foremen in online courses.

Participation in a preparatory course to become a master craftsman is not compulsory, but this form of further training has already proven its worth many times over. The preparatory courses offered by the chambers of industry and commerce provide comprehensive preparation for the nationally standardized examination for industrial foremen.

The flexible form of the master craftsman courses is particularly practical: the preparatory courses can be completed either full-time in ca. 6 to 12 months, part-time in ca. 1.5 to 3.5 years or as a distance learning course with the duration of approx. 30 months. The examination, which is taken before the chamber of industry and commerce (IHK), comprises two parts:

• Part I: interdisciplinary part (basic qualification)
• Part II: subject-specific part (action-specific qualification)

Financing of the industrial foreman advanced training

If one decides for a further training or a master course, the question arises fast about a suitable financing method of the desired advanced training. Those who are unable to pay for their career-enhancing measures out of their own pocket must rely on subsidies. Fortunately, there are numerous financing options for prospective industrial foremen.

Funding opportunities for further training as an industrial foreman:

State funding under the upgrading training assistance act (AFBG) is provided by the federal ministry of education and research. If you receive a master craftsman's grant (meister-bafog) during your further training, a subsidy for the course costs and a loan are granted. After passing the examination, the freshly graduated industrial master craftsman is forgiven a quarter of the loan originally granted.
