streetcars collapsed in mannheim

More than 20 people were injured in a rear-end collision involving two streetcars in mannheim this morning – but mostly only slightly.

According to the police and fire department, two seriously injured and 19 slightly injured people had to be treated. Against 6.00 o’clock a streetcar of the line 5 had collided with a preceding streetcar in the direction of the main station at the stop kunsthalle in the city center. How it came to the clash was initially unclear.

"The rescue service is on the spot with many vehicles", hailed the police. The kaiserring is fully closed in the direction of the main train station. There are traffic obstructions. "This is of course not unproblematic during rush hour in the city center," said a police spokesman.

Emergency medical services, city disaster response units and the fire department reportedly provided care to the injured. According to the fire department, an emergency chaplain, who also attended to uninjured victims, was also present at the scene of the accident. Photos showed how the helpers looked after passengers in the train.
